Privacy Policy

ChatLiner (“ChatLiner”, “we”, “us”) is a messaging app with built-in, real-time translation. This policy explains what data we process, why, and the choices you have. By using ChatLiner you agree to this policy.

Information we collect

  • Phone number — to create and verify your account via SMS. We do not require an email address.
  • Profile — your display name, @username, optional photo and your chosen reading language.
  • Messages & content — the text, images, files and voice notes you send, so we can deliver and translate them.
  • Technical data — minimal session and device information needed to keep you signed in and deliver notifications.

How we use your data

  • Deliver your messages to recipients in real time.
  • Translate messages into the language each participant chooses. To do this, message text and voice-note transcriptions are processed by our translation providers.
  • Send you push notifications for new messages and calls, if you enable them.
  • Keep the service secure and prevent abuse.

We do not sell your personal data, and we do not use your messages for advertising.

Translation & message processing

Translation is core to ChatLiner. When a message needs translating, its text (or the transcription of a voice note) is sent securely to our processing providers, the translation is returned, and it is shown to the recipient in their language. The original is always available to the sender and recipient.

Service providers

We rely on trusted providers who act as data processors on our behalf:

  • Supabase — database, authentication and media storage.
  • Twilio — SMS verification codes and call signaling.
  • Anthropic (Claude) — text translation.
  • ElevenLabs — voice-note transcription.
  • Vercel — application hosting and delivery.

Data retention & security

All data is transmitted over encrypted connections (TLS). Calls are peer-to-peer, using a secure relay only when a direct connection isn't possible. Your data is isolated per account using row-level security. We retain your data while your account is active; you can request deletion at any time.

Your rights

You can access, correct or delete your data and close your account. To exercise any of these rights, contact us at support@chatliner.app.

Children

ChatLiner is not directed to children under 13 (or the minimum age required in your country). We do not knowingly collect data from children.

International transfers

Because our providers operate globally, your data may be processed in countries other than your own. We take steps to ensure it is handled in line with this policy wherever it is processed.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as the service evolves. When we make material changes, we will update the date above and, where appropriate, notify you in the app.
